Here is a short multimedia piece showing the wide variety of conditions encountered daily by the snow rangers of the Mount Washington Avalanche Center. Most people run into Chris, Justin, Brian and Jeff while hiking into Tucks during spring skiing. As you will see here there are several months of winter that require avalanche forecasting. Most of those days there’s no crowd, not boot line up the headwall, sometimes…. not even another soul around, just howling wind and blowing snow. I think it’s those days the snow rangers secretly cherish most. Not many people ever experience them, but it’s that type of day that make the classic spring skiing possible.
